Mother’s day falls on Sunday, May 11.  Mark this date on your calendar because it’s more than a Hallmark event – It is a big deal!

Moms do so much for us, this is the one day to do something special just for them.  NO EXCUSES!

We have teamed up with Miss M’s Candy Boutique for a really special way to celebrate Moms (including Grandmoms) this year.  You MAKE the card and we will provide the WINNING card with the present to go with it!  More details listed below.

We can’t way to see all the creative cards.  The winner will be announced May 8th!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

This week I am reminded of just how far we’ve come in less than a year.

Last May, Rose and I were looking for the perfect location for our gallery concept (which we found in the vibrant Delmar Loop), my sister LJ was designing logos and space plans, Rose was working on art, our hubbies were keeping us calm, and I was contacting artist friends for work for the gallery opening.  We started working with Clark Whittington to secure an ArtoMat® for our location and I transitioned further away from my comfort zone – practicing law full time.

Then construction started – the real challenge – and we met even more amazing people who helped us transform our vision into this amazing space.

This week we had visits from old friends, former colleagues, family, and potential new artists.  We sold pieces of art we love, made new friends, and enjoyed watching our vision take hold.  We welcomed the Midwest Travel Writers and introduced them to our ArtoMat® as well as some of the very talented local artists.  Visitors to the area  taking MetroLink into the Loop from downtown are discovering why this is “One of the 10 Great Streets in America.”  St. Louis residents are rediscovering the Loop – strolling the streets enjoying the great weather, shopping, event venues, and great food.

We have a spring and summer full of great events planned – starting with a trunk show for U City Jeweler Bev Baker next Saturday, May 3.  We are also partnering with Miss M’s Candy Boutique for a Mothers’ Day contest (details to follow).  We are participating in the 6th Annual Mannequins on the Loop May 17 – June 8  and Zack Smithey (of Mark Twain World fame) is designing our mannequin.

We encourage you to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pintrest or check the Events page for further details as we get them posted.

Rose and I want to take a moment to thank all of you – too numerous to count – for helping us transform our germ of an idea (which started, like all good things, with a good bottle of wine and some dark chocolate) into something we love, are extremely proud of, and enjoy.  Our gallery assistants are amazing.  We’d love to give you a tour, tell you about our artists and their work, and help you find a perfect piece for yourself or someone else.

Have a great weekend!

Artie rules!

Artie rules!

I love spring!  My flower garden is in full bloom – tulips, jonquils, daffodils, hyacinth – and my flowering shrubs are sparkling with life.  My allergies are killing me but it doesn’t seem to matter.  Let’s face it – it was a long, long, cold winter – and we all missed the sun!

This is a weekend for family and friends, enjoying your traditions, or simply soaking up the joy that spring brings out in everyone.

Serendipity Gallery will be closed on Sunday so our gallery family can spend time with their respective families.  Neil and I will be eating chocolate bunny ears, gorging on green bean casserole (my family tradition), and brunching with friends.  Neil will certainly find an opportunity for some disc golf and I may tag along to search for Easter eggs and baby bunnies.

Serendipity Gallery is open today until 9:00 p.m.  We invite you to enjoy National Record Store Day in the Loop.  Don’t miss the bands at Vintage Vinyl or the great sales and food and drink throughout the Delmar Loop.  We have some new spring art or you can pick up a perfect hostess gift for tomorrow.

Seize the day because as Mark Twain famously said – “In Spring, I have counted 136 different kinds of weather in 24 hours!”  Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Enjoy!

We are beyond excited to see the sun for the 3rd day in a row!!!   It was a long cold winter.  As our welcome to spring, we have a lot of new artists and art in the gallery.  If you haven’t been to the Delmar Loop in a while – make today the day to take in the shops, eat some good food, enjoy the Walk of Fame, get a drink at the Moonrise, and just enjoy a nice stroll.

We’d love to see you!  In the meantime, here is some virtual window shopping to whet your appetite:
