Merry Christmas everyone!
Our Serendipity Family enjoyed a group night out at El Monstero last night. It was my first time and now I know what I’ve been missing by not participating in this annual St. Louis holiday tradition.
Traditions are important – they help us remember happy times, celebrate our family and friends, and give us something to look forward to all year long. For those like me who have lost one or both parents, the traditions we celebrate keep their memories alive. At the heart, the holiday season is about kindness, love and celebration. Even when we aren’t literally home for Christmas, it’s easy to reach out on social media or that old fashioned contraption called a Telephone and hear their voices. Nothing better in the whole world then hearing my 92 year old Grandma say “Hi Sugar” (almost as good as one of her hugs).
So pass on a cup of good cheer, a warm hug, or an unexpected kindness to someone you’ve never met – keep traditions alive or start a new one.
We will close today at 2:00 and reopen on Friday at 11 am, so that we can all celebrate with our families.
Wishing you all joy, fun and lots of cookies!
I cannot believe that Christmas is 4 days away! The elves are exhausted from their personal shopping expeditions – I suspect they played more than they worked, but they do such a good job, I can’t complain.
The elves want to suggest the following to round out your 12 days of Holiday Shopping Fun – and to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
10 Glass Balls – blown by local artist Chris McCarthy
11 Tattooed Boxes by J&P Hecker
12 Ugly Holiday Sweaters
Happy Holidays from all of us at Serendipity Gallery
St. Louis hit a new high today of 68 and the elves would rather play then work! So Santa is going to make today’s recommendation!
Art is a great and thoughtful holiday gift that keeps on giving because it is something that can be enjoyed all year long (and is a visual reminder of the giver!) We have a wide range of paintings, photographs, and wall art. One of my favorites is by California artist Sally Smith – so for the 9th day of Christmas, we suggest 9 poppies popping!

It’s so beautiful today – tempting to stay home and do yard work BUT there are only 6 days yet to get that perfect gift purchased, wrapped and under the tree.
The elves recommend a trip to Serendipity Gallery for what they call “wine pausers” – a wood wine cork that will keep the wine from spilling during the reindeer games!! Wood artist David Dobbs has supplied us with some really lovely and creative pausers from acorn shapes to top hats in a variety of woods. All hand crafted.

With shopping days diminishing and a lot of stockings yet to fill, the Elves decided to go kerplunking at Serendipity Gallery with Artie the Artomat®. At $5.53 a pull, they were able to collect a lot of stocking stuffers. Artie is loaded with original works of art – come in and take a pull.

The elves ran into a pack of robots – and shared a wonderful afternoon at Serendipity Gallery. These amazing sculptures include spiders, a mosquitos, a Thinker, a ray gun toting soldier and a diver. Come in and meet the gang.

What can you do? The elves demanded time off to watch football and to see The Desolation of Smaug. Now they are back to work and are so efficient they were able to complete their assignments for the 3rd, 4th and 5th days of Christmas Shopping in a single day!!! Here’s what they found – all at Serendipity

4 Bird Fan Pulls Flyingy by Michele Smith

I love everything about the holidays!
Decorating the house, baking cookies, shopping for presents, eating cookies, wrapping presents, eating cookies, sending holiday cards, planning parties, eating cookies, going to parties, eating cookies, and seeing friends (while eating cookies). Sure it can get stressful – as much as I love it, even I have been known to turn into a rogue elf every now and then.
When that happens, I listen to the “12 Pains of Christmas” and laugh (you see, I do not deal well with Christmas lights). So in honor of the season, I will be sharing my version of the 12 days of Christmas over the next few weeks. Starting Now:
